Acer buergerianum is a deciduous tree that grows to about twenty to thirty feet tall. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. It is best planted in full sun, but can tolerate part shade.

Due to its relatively small size, it is sometimes grown as a street tree. Acer buergerianum is also noted to have good fall color, typically displaying red and orange on its leaves. As the bark ages, it begins to exfoliate, creating an additional point of interest and is appealing, especially in the winter landscape.
